eSafety for parents and children

eSafety during school closure:

As a parent or carer, you play a key role in keeping your children safe online.

During these unprecedented times, your children will be online more, therefore their online activity will need to be monitored significantly more.

Here are some top tips to help you keep your children safe online.
  1. Agree with your children rules for internet use in your home.
  2. Let your children show you what they like to do when they are online.
  3. Have a conversation with your children about staying safe online.
  4. Encourage your children to be careful when disclosing personal information.
  5. Ensure that children are using electronic devices in communal areas.
  6. Ensure that headphones are not plugged into gaming devices so you can hear online conversations.
  7. Regularly check your children’s internet search history.
  8. Enable parental controls on devices offered by your home internet provider.

Remember, the internet is an excellent educational and recreational resource but only when children are aware of the risks associated with being online, know what to do in the event that they are worried about online content and a responsible adult can monitor this.
