Physical Education

At St John Baptist Primary School, we believe that providing children with opportunities to be active is essential. A creative PE curriculum and a range of extracurricular activities develops children's physical fitness, but promotes happiness and wellbeing too!

In order for our children to receive the best quality PE lessons, we use high-quality sports coaching from Kick who also lead mentoring sessions for some of our pupils to help them find the solutions they need for the challenges they face in their bespoke situations. This builds upon the development of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). Please click on the link for more details:  https://kick.org.uk/

Developing collaborative and evaluative skills.

PE and Sports Premium

What is the sports premium?

The PE and Sport Premium was introduced in March 2013 to improve the provision of physical education and school sport in primary schools across England.

How do we spend the sports premium at St John Baptist Primary School?

At St John Baptist Primary School, we believe in equal opportunities for all children to access and enjoy sports in a variety of contexts. We spend our sports premium funding on specialist coaching, additional equipment and staff training to upskill teachers.

Sports Day

At the end of the summer term every year the school sports day takes place at Sedgehill School Sports Field.  This is split into KS1 where children experience a range of skills based activities which they complete in a carousel format and KS2 where the children get to showcase their athletic and field skills.
